Il progetto Portraits nasce dalla necessità di lasciar andare il ricordo che conserviamo delle persone care e di noi stessi. Anche se pensiamo di poterlo fissare in una fotografia, il tempo, rappresentato dal ghiaccio, ne modifica le caratteristiche fino a renderlo inafferrabile. Il nucleo fondante del progetto riguarda le immagini del padre dell’artista affetto da morbo di Alzheimer, patologia che deforma e cancella la memoria.
The Portraits project stems from the need to let go of the memories we hold of our loved ones and of ourselves. Although we may think we can preserve them in a photograph, time, represented by ice, alters their features until they become elusive. At the heart of the project are images of the artist’s father, who was affected by Alzheimer’s disease, a condition that distorts and erases memory.
